What is Clemson Lacrosse?

  • A Clemson University club team founded in 1977.

  • The team is part of the Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA), a league filled with over 180 schools throughout the country. Specifically within the MCLA the team participates in the Atlantic Lacrosse Conference(ALC) which holds teams like Liberty University, Virginia Tech, NC State among others.

  • The past three years have been some of the best in team history with several players earning conference and national awards. Throughout this time, the team has frequently been nationally ranked in the top 20. We ended our 2021 season with a loss in the semi-finals of the MCLA Tournament against Chapman.

What is it like playing Clemson Lacrosse?

  • Fall season:

    • Fall ball has limited cuts and often starts the first week of September and runs to the last weekend in October. It’s made up of two or three 2-hour practices per week at the upper IM fields next to Death Valley.

    • Throughout the Fall, we scrimmage teams such as Emmanuel College’s NCAA D-II sanctioned team, University of Georgia, and SCAD. The Fall season ends with two games in a weekend to serve as Parent’s Weekend.

  • Spring season:

    • The team starts practicing in the middle of January and keeps playing until the end of playoffs. The season is made up of three or four 2-hour practices a week on LoConte(turf) and the upper IM fields, right next to Clemson Memorial Stadium (Death Valley). Weekends are typically made up of 2 games.

    • The team has traditionally had a 50 man roster.

    • Every season brings a big trip where the team flies to play competition outside of the ALC conference, a necessity to potentially gaining a bid to nationals, along with other smaller trips to closer teams. Where the team has traveled in the past:

      • 2018: Dallas, Auburn, Atlanta, Elon/NC State/ECU

      • 2019: Colorado, Florida State University, and Atlanta.

      • 2020: California, Virginia Tech, Liberty

      • 2021: Tennessee, NC State, VT

      • 2022: Phoenix, Auburn, Liberty

What are the costs?

  • As a club team, Clemson Lacrosse is a player funded team so its reliant on player dues and donations.

    • Fall dues: Approximately $450.00 per player. Dues go to pinnies, practice shorts, shooting shirt, refs and field payments.

    • Spring dues: Approximately $1,500.00 per player. Dues covers all travel costs, helmets, pinnies, shooting shirts, game shorts, team bags, polos, sweats, league dues, coach and refs pay, among other things.
